Guitars are awesome. Nearly every band has them, and if they do not have a guitar then there is going to be some sort of stringed instrument, without question.

The earliest known stringed instruments are called bowl harps, some were made from tortoise shells.

A man named Antonio Stradivarius was a very well known violin maker. He also made five stringed guitars, four of which date back to as early as 1700.

In 1949, BB King named a guitar of his “Lucille” after retrieving it from a burning building, which happened when two men were fighting over a woman named Lucille. He named it as a reminder to never fight over women…or run into a burning building.

The electric Fender Stratocaster guitars are the most copied shape for guitars.

In 1964, Fender made the electric Fender mustang guitars. This was for advanced guitarists, then used by “surf” musicians. Production ended in 1982

The custom Washburn 22 series Hawk Guitar owned by Bob Marley is now a national treasure of Jamaica. Its estimated worth is 2 million dollars.

Chet Atkins became the sole endorser for Gretsch guitars. He has a signature model, the Chet Atkins Gretsch guitars. The Chet Atkins Gretsch guitars entered the rock and roll scene when Duane Eddy purchased one for his music. With the advent of the Chet Atkins Gretsch guitars, Gretsch became a top competitor with Gibson.

Brian Setzer revitalized interest in Gretsch guitars and subsequently had a model named after him, the Brian Setzer Gretsch guitars.
